Waffler is a  sweetheart that found herself unwanted in a high kill shelter in West Texas.  She is good with other dogs, cats and kids. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training.

From the foster:

Meet Waffles. She is Very food motivated. She has a soft lab mouth… she takes treats gentler then any dog I’ve ever had here.  She is so quiet in her crate that you could hear a pin drop in your house.  No whining, crying or barking while in the crate.  She needs some encouragement going in and out any door (crate, house car etc).  Not fearful, but just not sure.  She just puts the breaks on and won’t move, but treats gets her going every time.  With repetition she won’t need that.   Rock solid potty trained!  She doesn’t want a mess in the house and she will hold it.   She is not a barker.  I have heard her bark only a couple times since she has been here.. all dog need to bark at the garbage truck!!  She has never barked in the house even at the door bell.  She walks slow and is cautious when on leash. I think once we get her walking the usual rout in our neighborhood  she will become more confident and if she had a doggy friend to walk with that would make things even easier for her.  She would benefit from a confident gentle dog in her home to show her the ropes.  She does like to play and I think she would engage in gentle dog play.  She play bows to our cat who is not interested haha.   It is believed that Waffles was attacked by another dog.  She is missing part of her left ear and has some scratches on her, so she would defiantly need a gentle playmate.  She loves it when neighbors walk by with their dogs or when our neighbors boarder collie is out in the yard.  She just chases them and tries to play along the fence. She is okay around kids, but unsure of really little kids.  She loves my 4 year old twin girls.  She will jump on them if they have food, but we correct her by turning away and she quickly figured out she only gets the food if she sits.  She would probably do best in a home that has a yard, but I feel like she could probably live in an apartment or townhome with the right family.  She is playful, but not high energy dog.  She enjoys napping and would do fine in a working family. She will wait patiently for you to come home to her.  Make sure you give her a Kong filled with treats not because she requires  it, but because she deserves it ❤
Priority will go to applicant who can bring to vet visit in the Twin Cities Metro, MN. Please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.
