Rev found himself unwanted at a high kill shelter in West Texas. He is good with other dogs and kids, cats are unknown.   All dogs and puppies require supervision and training. 

Rev is a 3 year old St. Bernard who came from Texas to Minnesota in August 2023. He was so scared and skinny, you could see every one of his ribs. It was clear that being in the shelter was not a good experience for Rev. Once we got him home, he blossomed into a sweet and loving boy. He loves food and is very food motivated. He can take treats a little rough but with some training that can easily be corrected. For the first few months it might be a good idea for kids not to give him any treats until he learns to take them more gently.

Rev is a couch potato and wants to lay with you and snuggle. He’s mild tempered and clearly had some training prior to coming here. He knows how to sit, lay down, shake a paw, and is both crate and potty trained. Because he will do anything for a treat, training shouldn’t be too difficult. Rev likes other dogs and remains calm even when his foster family is trying to rile him up. He has never been around cats, but I believe that he would do okay with them. He has a 5 pound foster sister and he never bothers or chases her.

Rev has the typical St. Bernard slobber, so make sure to put a towel down where his water bowl is! And a towel for the car too just to be safe haha. He does shed quite a bit, but that’s to be expected for his breed.

He still needs to put on a good amount of weight, but his love of food will make that easy. I always call him the “Gentle Giant” because he is 90 pounds of love. He would be a great family dog and wants to please. His foster mom said that she would keep him if her current dog wasn’t so jealous of how tall Rev is.
