Cian found herself unwanted and in a high kill shelter in West Texas. She is thought to be a Chihuahua/Terrier mix (with possibly some Doxxie or Corgi as she has that long body/short legs body type). She does get very nervous when other dogs bark at her when on walks, but has lived with other dogs in the past. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training. Priority will go to applicant who can bring to vet visit in the Twin Cities Metro, MN. She may need to have more than one vet visit once she sees the vet.

I am Cian, I don't need an active family- I kinda love naps! My foster family says I'm the only dog who runs to my bed when I see the leash come out but once I get going, I'm a great walker! I don't pull on the leash and I generally stay right next to my person- although if I get nervous from hearing a loud car, or a dog barking at me, I may speed up and get a bit ahead of you temporarily. I sleep pretty well in general, and if I've had a walk that day, I sleep really well! I'm not a player- if you throw a ball or toy, I watch it land and go back to what I was doing. I don't like to pick up stuff with my mouth (unless it's something I can eat) and I don't play tug. But I love to sniff all around the backyard and to get all the pets- I'm not a snuggler but will remind you that you need to pet me if I'm sitting next to you on the couch. My foster mom tells me I'm a good girl and says I'm the perfect dog for someone who wants a pretty calm, low-key companion. I'm perfectly content to curl up on my bed most of the day and take breaks from my snoozing to let you know if I need to go out or be fed. If the whole family is home, I want to be with you, preferably enjoying a scratch behind the ears or a tummy rub.I am learning sit, stay, get on your bed, down, leave it, drop it and come. I do occassionally jump up on people, more often I stand up on my hind legs and put my paws on people when I want attention and head pats- I am working on the command "off". I am very treat-motivated and I take treats from hands very politely and gently. I tolerate kids but they aren't my favorite...my foster says older kids who are used to being strong leaders may be OK.I am a bit of a Nervous Nellie although I have improved soooo much since I got here! I don't jump at every sound I hear now- I even ignore doorbells!- but I do get skittish at loud cars, barking dogs, and other loud sounds. I'm a pretty quiet girl- my foster family hasn't even heard me bark! I whine or yelp very occasionally but no barking or howling has been heard since I've been in my foster home. I do not like being in the bathtub but my foster mom has been working with me to help me not mind it as much.I'm housebroken. I'm usually given a chance to go out every few hours when my people are home; if they have to be out of the house I can go for six to eight hours if I have had a chance to go out before they leave. Sometimes they let me out in the middle of the night but many nights I sleep all night just fine without a potty break. I sleep on my dog bed in the kitchen at night but it seems like I'd really like to be able to snuggle with someone in their bed. I don't get into the garbage and although I'll look at you intently while you eat, I don't beg. My foster family is working to train me to sit on my bed while people are eating.
