Rudolph found himself unwanted, and in a high kill shelter in West Texas.

Rudy is a super sweet boy, who loves to keep entertained with toys and playing outside with a ball or running around. A home that has a high fenced yard or acreage would be ideal for this boy who wants to greet everyone to say "hello" and does not want to miss any activity happening outdoors.

He knows basic commands (off, leave it, down, sit, shake, kiss). He reacts to dogs, squirrels and rabbits on walks, but walks well on a leash and is learning 'leave it" when he encounters them.   He is very treat motivated and you can often divert his attention with good treats & praise. He really likes to go for long walks. A less busy area for walking would be ideal until he becomes comfortable being in in those types of areas. A strong handler will be necessary and an active home will keep him out of trouble.

Rudy does need a slow non-restaint intro to new dogs and can be selective at times, but he has lived with senior dogs and does great with dogs smaller than him (50lbs and under as a general rule) and all ages of dogs at daycare. He likes to get rough with larger dogs when playing, but does respect the larger senior dogs.  A border collie is his best freind at the doggie daycare.  An ideal home for him would be somewhere that has limited outside distractions and someone who will work with him.

Although he has energy, he is an absolute lover and likes to give hugs and is almost lazy in the house.   He has never had an accident indoors. He enjoys chewing a bone, squeaking a toy, or tugging a rope, he likes the lounge on the couch or dog bed. He does well in the crate, with some occasional whining to see if you'll give in and let him out. He travels VERY well in a vehicle.

Due to his size and energy, a home without young kids would be recommended. He knocks over kids (and sometimes adults) with his body and jumping, he also gets over zealous with his kisses/mouthiniess.
